Support floods in for new orchestra

Phoenix

It’s now just a month since our launch, and what a month it’s been!

We were absolutely delighted to receive this lovely, personalised message of support from sax supremo Gerard McChrystal.

And not only that, the internationally renowned Delta Saxophone Quartet and sax composer/arranger Philippe Marillia have sent their best wishes, saxophonist Jay Riley has shared news of our launch in his regular e-newsletter and Tom Bruton of Saxtet Publications has offered us his support.

“We’re really excited to have had such a positive response to our new orchestra,” said founder member Jane Smith. “It’s a big boost for us to have the support of these amazing musicians and we’ve had lots of support from our local media too.

“All this publicity has really helped to spread the word. We’ve got more than 100 followers on Facebook and 80 on Twitter, and we’ve had six potential new members coming along to see what Phoenix is all about. We’ve been approached by two composers of sax ensemble music and we’ve even been invited to play at three events this year. So we are looking forward to some exciting times ahead!”

The Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra are now members of Making Music and recently featured in the Clarinet and Saxophone Society (CASS) of Great Britain magazine. Stories have also appeared in the Harborough Mail, on the Harborough FM website, in the Leicester Mercury and Harborough Living Magazine. See our media page for more information.

The orchestra would like to thank everyone for their support, best wishes and encouragement so far.
