Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra performed its first ever full indoor concert at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Harrington, Northamptonshire on Sunday 9 October, as part of the well-established Harrington Concerts Series.
The orchestra played to a capacity audience, with a wide repertoire to suit all musical tastes. Members also demonstrated their musical versatility with some surprise pop-up performances – not only on saxophone, but vocally and on other instruments too!
“The concert was a great success,” said Benedict Cadbury from Harrington Concerts. “A varied programme spanning three centuries was well presented and the playing was of a high standard, demonstrating the sounds of the many different types of saxophone and the breadth of sound achieved by this unusual orchestra. There was a good audience, a number of whom have said they hope the orchestra will come again, and we should indeed be pleased to invite Phoenix back to perform for us next year.”
This concert followed a summer of successful performances for Phoenix, at parks and bandstands throughout Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, where the orchestra has entertained hundreds of music lovers with their unique sound.
