Howard Wiseman, owner of Wiseman Cases, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to support this group of wonderful musicians and to help protect their precious instruments.”

Wiseman joins international music publisher Saxtet Publications as a sponsor for this fast growing orchestra which, since forming in January 2020, has gained national recognition from the Royal Philharmonic Society, has welcomed international performing saxophonist Gerard McChrystal as their Patron and is building lasting relationships with saxophonists from all over the world.

Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra’s Jane Smith said: “Wiseman and Saxtet are without doubt two of the most well-respected players in the saxophone world, and we are absolutely delighted to have them both on board as sponsors. Several of our members, and also our patron Gerard McChrystal, already use Wiseman cases for their instruments, and we are very much looking forward to building our relationship with Wiseman, as we continue on our musical journey.”

Notes to editors

In 2021, Phoenix was jointly nominated with Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra (ASO) for a classical music ‘Oscar’ by the Royal Philharmonic Society. As well as a lasting friendship with ASO, Phoenix has built relationships with saxophonists from as far afield as Australia and the USA.

The orchestra completed a full performance season in 2022, playing to hundreds of people at indoor and outdoor venues across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. Their first concert for 2023 will be a joint fundraiser with St Hugh’s Church, Market Harborough on the evening of Saturday 18 March.
