Phoenix to head south for second concert tour

Phoenix

Phoenix is heading south to the Isle of Wight at the end of June to perform two joint concerts with the Island’s Wight Sax saxophone choir:

  • Saturday 28 June (7pm) at Bembridge Village Hall
  • Sunday 29 June (7pm) at Newport Minster

Both performances are free and everyone is welcome. There will be refreshments and a retiring collection.

Phoenix will also be appearing in St Thomas’ Square, Newport at lunchtime on Saturday 28 June (weather permitting) and at Rylstone Gardens Bandstand, Shanklin from 2−3pm on Sunday 29 June.

Stephen Bashforth, Chair of Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra, said: “We’re very much looking forward to visiting the Isle of Wight and to performing with Wight Sax. This will be our second concert tour since Phoenix was formed, our first having been to Aberdeenshire in 2023.”

Lynn Peppitt, Chair and a founding member of Wight Sax, said: “We’re very pleased to be welcoming Phoenix Saxophone Orchestra to the Island. We’re particularly excited to be playing jointly with Phoenix in two concerts, when we’ll have around 26 saxophones playing together, and to hear the unique sound of the bass sax.”
